Kindness Initiative attempts to provide services to meet member’s needs that meet standards consistent with traditional Jewish values. When we use the following terms, you can be sure of what we are saying.
- Employment – a living wage from a job that is safe
- Basic household goods – clothing, furnishings, toiletries, toys, basic personal care products and services
- Community involvement – access to Jewish communal life without cost being a barrier to participation
- Confidentiality – privacy and confidentiality on matters they prefer not to be in the public domain
- Dignity and Self-respect – the right to be treated by others in a respectful, friendly, compassionate, and communicative manner, with the knowledge that someone cares about them
- Food Security – at least two nutritious meals per day, every day, prepared consistent with their religious beliefs
- Health & Wellness – access to the full array of basic medical services including Physicians, Dentistry, Vision Care; Auditory Services; Medications; Mental Health and Physical Disabilities Services; Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence Support; as well as home Healthcare, Fall-Prevention, and Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services
- Housing – a roof over their head with access to full bathroom and kitchen every day and night; consistency in location; access to home maintenance services
- Information – electronic access to information for services and socialization
- Jewish Education – optional access to basic Jewish education for children
- Life Cycle Events – an ability to celebrate a wedding, a brit milah, a bar/bat mitzvah or hold a funeral or burial for loved ones
- Poverty prevention options – access to financial advisory services and interest free loans
- Socialization and Support services – access to group activity programs/day care; Legal Services; Tax and Accounting Services
- Support of fellow Jews – the support of Jewish individuals and organizations to ease access to all the above in a timely manner
- Transportation – an ability to access services needed in a dignified manner
